An amazingly coloured silvered primitive wooden Root Bench. Early 20th Century.
The organically naturally formed primitive shape of the bench's seat and back is carved from a single piece of teak which has silvered and sun-bleached over many years, superb grain with great burrs and knots throughout the ancient roots timber. The shape is undulating and softly formed, naturally shaped by the elements.
Underneath the craftsman has attached three perfectly balanced yet naively cut legs to repurpose this beautiful piece of wood into this superbly sculptural and useable work of art.
The surface is heavily silvered by the sun all over, with lichens and mosses - the best patination we have ever seen on one of these rare pieces of furniture.
