A striking Giant Clam Shell or 'Tridacna Gigas' c.1880.
With a superb organic flowing undulating surface, wonderful patination, natural wear and pearly pale white interior.
This impressive antique specimen not only looks stunning on display as a piece of natural history, but could be used externally, perhaps as a water feature. Alternatively, it could be used as a stylish champagne or wine cooler for the most opulent events.
Note: old repairs of sand and crushed shell mortar to the centre of the shell, which simply resemble sand from the bottom of the sea.
